Updated Test Automation Platform from Vector Software Offers Better Data Integration, Reporting, and Tool IntegrationLogan Joseph,Application Manager, IT,Genuine Parts Company

Vector Software, a provider of software testing solutions for safety and business critical embedded applications, introduces VectorCAST version 6.4 - an advanced test automation platform for C/C++ and Ada development. The new offering comprises new features and enhancements to help in improving data aggregation, reporting, usability, and tool integration performance.

VectorCAST for C/C++ and Ada is a highly automated unit and integration test solution.

It is used by embedded developers to validate safety and business critical embedded systems in the avionics, medical device, automotive, industrial controls, railway, and financial industries. With VectorCAST/Ada, unit testing can be done natively or on a specific target or target simulator. VectorCAST’s run-time support package along with VectorCAST/RSP makes execution of test cases on target hardware automatic and seamless. It allows tests to be developed in a host environment and re-executed on an embedded target to validate target and cross-compiler performance.

The key features and enhancements of VectorCAST 6.4 include: call coverage for each test case across all flavors of testing; enhanced integration with static analysis tools to provide a consistent set of controls.

regardless of the static tool being used; provides configuration, annotated listings and message viewer; allows testing to be performed on one individual function in complete isolation from its dependent functions; and enables engineers to quickly access not only the source code but also the entire software application.

With the ability to be used on new or legacy applications, the test solution provides a streamlined and repeatable technology for developer’s testing procedure. By automating the creation of frameworks to isolate newly developed code, VectorCAST reduces cost involved in software testing.

“The open interfaces of VectorCAST give us the necessary flexibility to adapt VectorCAST to all needs in all our development environments,” says Sven Natus, Manager of Software Development, Fujitsu Semiconductor.
