FREMONT, CA: Smart Eye, the market leader in artificial intelligence-powered Driver Monitoring and Interior Sensing software, appoints Detlef Wilke as Vice President of Automotive Solutions.

Detlef Wilke will serve as Vice President of Automotive Technologies, leading and expanding Smart Eyes Driver Monitoring and Interior Sensing solutions. Automotive Solutions was launched in 2012 and has since established Smart Eye as the industry's leading developer of Driver Monitoring System (DMS) software. Smart Eye is the undisputed market leader, has signed 88 contracts with 13 OEMs, and supplying its AI-based technology to several of the world's major automakers.

Detlef Wilke assumes the role of Vice President of Automotive Solutions at a critical juncture in the evolution of the automotive sector. Recent legislation proposals in the United States and China and the upcoming Euro NCAP assessment protocol include driver detection technology as a mandatory safety feature, increasing the pressure on automakers to incorporate Driver Monitoring Systems into their forthcoming vehicle models.

Detlef Wilke is departing Aptiv (formerly Delphi) after 23 years. After seven years in various parallel responsibilities, including technical management, project leadership, and solution and quote strategy leadership, he focused on Driver Monitoring and Interior Sensing. He previously established and defined the company and technology in the areas of Driver- and Interior Monitoring. Previously, he held leadership positions in the OEM- and aftermarket connectivity and telematics hardware and software markets. Detlef was heavily involved in the NCAP and legislative efforts as Chairman of the CLEPA Mirror Group for Euro NCAP Occupant Status Monitoring.
